When to travel

I want to travel in

December

Spend some time drifting the backwaters of Kerala or exploring the Golden Triangle. December also marks the beginning of high season in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka in December

In Sri Lanka, high season begins on the south and west coasts with plenty of sun, though short showers are still possible. Early December is quieter, before the Christmas rush. Book well in advance for festive periods in Sri Lanka as the hotels book up quickly. Please take a look at our Sri Lanka Weather Guide for more information.

The Maldives in December

The Maldives enjoy dry skies, calm seas, and superb diving. Travel in early December offers excellent value before holiday crowds and peak-season prices arrive across South Asia.

India in December

December sees cooler, pleasant weather in northern India and Rajasthan, ideal for exploring forts and cities, while Kerala offers warm sunshine and emerald backwaters at their finest. Check out our more detailed India Weather Guide for more information.

Bhutan in December

In Bhutan, winter starts to kick in December but this means cool crisp days that are great for exploring and trekking. We love this time of year. Take a look at our Bhutan Weather Guide for more detailed information about Bhutan’s weather.
