Mirissa
Mirissa Beach curves gently along Sri Lanka's southern coast, with pale sand meeting coconut palms in that picture-perfect tropical way.
This former fishing village has become famous for two main attractions: whale watching between November and April, when blue whales and sperm whales pass close to shore, and surfing, with both right and left-hand reef breaks handling waves up to six feet. The hilltop coconut trees provide classic sunset views, while beach restaurants serve excellent seafood. It perfectly balances relaxation with adventure.
