Kandy Botanical Gardens

Explore with your guide one of Asia's most revered botanical gardens, with an extensive collection of plants, trees and orchids.

The Peradeniya Botanical Gardens covers 147-acres and was established as a scientific institution in 1821 under British colonial rule. The collection includes over 4,000 species representing global tropical biodiversity, with particular strength in Southeast Asian and Sri Lankan endemic plants developed through exchanges with Kew Gardens and other major botanical institutions.

Your chauffeur-guide will highlight important species including the original tea plants introduced by James Taylor and medicinal plants used in traditional Ayurvedic and indigenous healing systems.

Approximate duration: 2 hours.
