Back at the hotel, balconied walkways surround a central pool area, with bougainvillaea spilling into view and frescoes adding a splash of colour. Dine on the patio and soak it all in or retreat to the dining room in cooler weather. The 14 guestrooms are simple and traditional, with all the modern amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Rooms can feel a little dark but they’re perfectly comfortable
There aren’t loungers next to the pool but you’ll find plenty of patio furniture and swinging chairs in the corridors to curl up with a book
No spa facilities so it’s best suited to travellers who don’t need all the bells and whistles
Families are welcome, but amenities are not designed with families in mind
