Walking tour of the Old City

Today you'll embark on a captivating private walking tour through the ancient lanes of Varanasi, where every corner pulses with history and spirituality.

Your journey begins at the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple, also known as the Golden Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple, rebuilt in the 18th century, is crowned by a golden spire donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab. Only Hindus are permitted inside, but its grandeur and sacred presence can be appreciated from the outside.

As you wander through the narrow lanes, you’ll encounter vibrant shops offering exquisite brocade silks, intricate brassware, and a variety of sacred items essential for worship at the countless small shrines that dot the city. The maze of alleyways is an experience in itself, each offering a glimpse into the rich, spiritual fabric of Varanasi. The tour culminates at the Ghats along the Ganges, where the essence of life in Varanasi is fully on display. Watch in awe as priests perform the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti rituals, while devotees take their holy dips in the river, seeking purification. The sight of daily life unfolding at the Ghats, amidst the sounds of chanting, the aroma of incense, and the sight of the setting sun over the sacred river, is an incredible experience.
